Another year working together and we have been there with you to give you a quality course. Your concerns, feedback and ideas have helped us learn and continuously improve on our content.
It’s because of this and the arrival of the new education law, that the Early Years course has arrived with news. But don’t worry, the changes made have been to simplify it. You will see that you were already doing a lot of what we propose but now, the course will be much easier to use. Do you want to know what news we have for you? Let’s go!
Where has this come from?
As you know, up to now, the Early Years course has been based on four processes, the Workshops, where we built knowledge as a whole class through dynamic conversations led by the teacher, Corners and the App, where we put everything we had learned into practice, Motivations, where, through certain suggestive scenes, we explored mathematical knowledge in different contexts such as art, architecture and science, with each student going at their own pace, and finally, the Routines, where we connected mathematical knowledge to daily life.
The four processes worked separately but they were also interconnected and resulted in a complex course that, at times, overwhelmed you. Because of this we have decided to rethink and simplify some processes.
The News!
In the 2022-2023 course, you will only find two processes, the Workshops and the Spaces.
The workshops
The Workshops will be no different to what you were familiar with, they will continue to be activities of building knowledge as a whole class where the teacher guides and introduces specific vocabulary, working specifically on the content categories.
The spaces
The Spaces are to practice what has been learned, through the game and discovery spaces that you would usually find in the classroom, art, symbolic play, constructions, etc. Through the guides (which are now different in each course), we help you see which processes and mathematical knowledge spontaneously appears in these spaces and which questions and materials you can use to make the most of the wealth of content contained within.
We propose six interdisciplinary and transversal situations, based respectively in art, construction, experimentation, board games, the manipulative material and symbolic play, as well as the app for digital practice. Those of you who remember last year’s course will see that many of these ideas come directly from the corners and motivations.
And will all of this look like in the Classroom Manager? You will see that the digital guides have been remade from top to bottom, now they are much more pleasant to read and include more images of the material and content that the children have produced so that you have real examples.
Classroom life
Finally, the course includes Classroom Life, a Resource Bank, (songs, stories, etc.) so that you can work on the day to day in class from a mathematical point of view.
